Q: For purposes of income eligibility, if an applicant had former employment with the Census Group and has a YTD $ amount including wages and travel, would you discount the travel $ amount for gross pay calculation, or include?
Example YTD Gross pay equal $5000 wages, $2000 travel. YTD includable dollar amount equal $5000 or $7000?

A: Assuming the travel reimbursement is within the IRS allowances (as it should be for US Census employment), the travel reimbursement is not taxable and should not be included in income for SCSEP eligibility purposes. Any amount in excess of the IRS allowance is taxable and would be included.
