Exits for Cause and Volunteerism Performance Indicator

Q: Unfortunately, we have for cause exits and have some concerns about trying to capture the information required for this performance indicator for those individuals. Can we exclude the participants who are exited for cause from this process?

A: Grantees fail to do required follow-up on the outcome measures for a variety of reasons, including the awkwardness of the relationship with the participant. That does not provide a basis for excluding for-cause exits from the calculation of the measure. This new measure works like all the others: If you do not do the follow-up, it will count as a failure. Fortunately, the number of for-cause exits is small so this should not have have a significant impact on performance.
